Overview
Nchopia Nwokoma is Director, Leadership Consulting at The ExCo Group, where she draws on more than 15 years of experience as an Industrial-Organizational Psychology practitioner to work alongside senior leaders to understand what their businesses will demand next and deliver effective leadership development and assessment solutions to get them there.
Career History
Nchopia has spent her career partnering with Fortune 500 companies and global organizations to align talent strategy with business strategy through evidence-based practice. Her work has spanned the full talent management lifecycle, including job analysis and competency modeling, the design and validation of selection systems and high-potential identification models, individual and 360-degree assessment design and feedback, organizational survey design and interpretation, performance management system design, and leadership development program design and facilitation. She has sat alongside C-suite leaders during annual strategic planning, helped cascade goals through the organization, and used psychological assessment to surface the leaders an organization has and to guide their development. Before joining The ExCo Group, Nchopia led assessment, succession, and talent review for the world’s largest credit union, consulted at Korn Ferry, and began her career as an intern at YSC (now part of Accenture).
Personal
Nchopia holds a Master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and is Hogan certified. She teaches graduate-level courses in Vanguard University’s Industrial-Organizational Psychology graduate program and co-authored “Investigating the Implications of Code-Switching and Assimilating at Work for African-American Professionals,” published in the Journal of Business Diversity. She previously served as Chair of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology’s Early Career Practitioners Consortium and Co-Chair of SIOP’s Practitioner Engagement Committee, and is a board member of the Ellavate Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises money to help underrepresented populations succeed in the workplace, and a member of the Junior League of Prince George’s County.
In her free time, Nchopia enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
