Bart Van den Daele

Overview

Bart Van den Daele is an accomplished board member and senior executive with over 25 years of experience leading large-scale businesses across Europe, North America, Japan, and Asia Pacific, spanning infrastructure services, IT outsourcing, and software. Van den Daele has a proven track record of creating large-scale marketdefining partnerships with innovative structures and marketchanging content, and has an extensive background in M&A and transformation A global leader, Bart is a native Flemish (Dutch) speaker, and is fluent in both English and French.  

Career History

Van den Daele served as Chairman of the Board of PISquare, a Belgian joint venture between IBM and Belfius; as Director, and later, Chairman of the Board of VTS, an Italian joint venture between IBM and Unicredit; and as Co-Chairman of the Board of BP2I, a French joint venture between IBM and BNP Paribas group, a global financial services company.   

At IBM, Van den Daele served as General Manager, Worldwide Infrastructure Services, where he was responsible for leading the infrastructure services business with $20B in revenue and 90,000 employees. Under his leadership, Van den Daele successfully reshaped the P&L to move from structural profit erosion to sustainable profit growth with a $700M contribution to a base run of $4B profit and grew global customer satisfaction from a single digit NPS to +50.  He also successfully led the business through a successful spinoff into the separate company, Kyndryl, at the end of 2021. 

Previously, Van den Daele was General Manager, Global Technology Services in Europe.  In this role, he successfully led market-defining M&A and created strategic partnerships with Lloyds, BBVA, Vodaphone, AT&T, and BNPP.  Van den Daele’s other roles at IBM include VP, Strategic Outsourcing, Europe; VP Global Technology Services, BeNeLux; Director, Strategic Outsourcing, BeNe Lux; and Group Executive for the Software Group.  

Prior to joining IBM, Van den Daele was Services Director at Lotus Development in Paris, France, and led the integration of Lotus within IBM after the acquisition.  He began his career at EDS as a Services Engineer. 

Personal

Van den Daele received a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Leuven, Belgium. In his spare time, he enjoys competing in triathlons. Van den Daele currently lives in Brussels with his wife, Marleen, and their two children.
