Gabrielle Thompson


Gabrielle Thompson, a Human Resources executive with over 30 years of experience, brings an extensive and functionally broad HR background in both the financial and high-tech industries. Thompson has held executive or senior leadership roles across the full spectrum of companies – start up, small, medium, and large – leading and creating business-focused solutions and strategies. 

Career History

Thompson retired from Cisco Systems in September 2021 as the SVP Executive & Board.  Her responsibilities spanned executive recruiting; executive compensation; executive performance, succession, and development; board of director onboarding and integration.  Previously, she was the SVP Acquisitions and Total Rewards where she led teams focused on acquisition and divestiture due diligence and integration as well as compensation, benefits, wellness, and recognition in over 90 countries.   

Prior to joining Cisco Systems, Thompson was the Vice President Total Rewards for SuccessFactors, a company designing business execution cloud software solutions. She led key initiatives including the company’s first total rewards strategy and an inspirational and new performance management design, each to attract the entrepreneurial-minded talent and create the energy and passion for driving company growth and success. 

Thompson’s history includes Chief People Officer for Numonyx, a new flash memory company created through the joint venture of Intel Corporation and ST Microelectronics.  As a member of the executive team, Thompson defined and proliferated the Numonyx company culture, integrating leaders and employees from two strong but diverse company philosophies. Prior to joining Numonyx, Thompson spent thirteen years with Intel in a variety of human resources leadership roles.  

Thompson serves on the Board of Directors for Child Advocates of Placer County.


Thompson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business and holds an MBA from St. Mary’s College. Thompson is married and has four children. In her free time, she enjoys family activities, wine-tasting, and personal fitness. She currently resides in Granite Bay, California.
