Overview
Karen Morris is an experienced executive and director with over 30 years of multi-disciplined leadership experience in the corporate insurance industry. Having sat as both an executive advisor and decision-maker, she brings an operator’s pragmatism and insight to her mentoring engagements.
Career History
Morris has led organizations in Legal, Strategy, Communications, Marketing and Product Management, and has served as a director and advisor to boards. Following 21 years at Allstate, Morris served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel for USAA’s Property and Casualty (P&C) Group, the fifth largest P&C carrier in the U.S with operations across Europe and the U.K. As P&C General Counsel, Morris led a team of lawyers and professionals and provided legal, regulatory, and governance counsel and guidance to the P&C President, the P&C leadership team, and the USAA P&C Group company boards.
Morris is passionate about advancing diversity, equity and inclusion, with a focus on the legal community. While at USAA, she served as a member of the University of Texas Center for Women in the Law General Counsel Working Group. She is a leader of the National Association of Women Lawyers, serving as a member of the executive board from 2013-2022, including as President from 2020-21.
Morris is also President and founder of Suizzo Morris Group, LLC, which specializes in leadership, career and transition coaching for individuals and organizations. She is a member of the International Coaching Federation and a candidate for certification from the Hudson Institute of Coaching.
Morris was a recipient of the National Association of Women Lawyers’ Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member award, and was also recognized by the National Diversity Council as a Top General Counsel for 2021.
Personal
Morris received a B.A., magna cum laude, from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law. She resides in Los Angeles.
