Overview

Keith Meyer, Senior Managing Director and Co-Lead of the Board Impact Practice, has over 25 years of global experience building high-performing boards and leading successful CEO transitions for Fortune 500, mid-cap and not-for-profit organizations. He has provided counsel to Board Chairs, Nominating and Governance Committees, Human Capital and Compensation Committees, and CEOs on critical board performance and enterprise-level leadership issues while leading a wide range of governance effectiveness assessments and board refreshment plans, designing the optimal governance structure and operating principles for pre-IPO and post-merger boards, and assisting with the development and execution of future focused CEO succession plans. Keith has prior corporate leadership and strategic consulting experience, and he has been named one of the 100 most influential corporate governance leaders by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).

Career History

Keith co-founded and currently leads the Directors Academy, a national not-for-profit focused on accelerating the development of the next generation of diverse directors.  During the past 10 years, the Directors Academy has developed a pipeline of 200+ board-ready diverse senior executives who have served on over 160 corporate boards following their participation in the NextGen Directors program.

Prior to joining The ExCo Group, Keith led the Board Services Practice at Major, Lindsey & Africa and was the Founder of Park Avenue Advisors, a board of directors and CEO advisory firm where he worked closely with CEOs and boards of public companies, private equity portfolio investments, and early stage ventures. He previously held leadership roles with Heidrick & Struggles, where he was Vice Chair, Co-Head of the North America CEO Practice, and Head of the Global Board Consulting Practice. Keith was also a Partner at Egon Zehnder, where he led the firm’s Chicago office. He began his consulting career with McKinsey & Company and has prior management experience at PepsiCo and ExxonMobil.
